A New Year’s Eve Message from Martha
Please make a donation to TW today. It’s easy—and your tax-deductible contribution will support one of the most unusual nonprofit literary organizations around. Just click on the TW Donation Form to the right.
(Even if you get this message on January 1, you can date your check December 31, 2013, and send it to Talking Writing, Inc., P.O. Box 442014, West Somerville, MA 02144.)As many of you know, Talking Writing is an online magazine I launched three years ago with Elizabeth Langosy. It’s become a wonderful venue for personal essays, poetry, journalistic features about writing, literary debates, book talk, and—most of all—writing talk. I love the thing; I think it’s unique. TW has attracted some of the best writers out there, and the opportunity to work with them, both as editor and a writer myself, almost makes the entire venture worth all the love and sweat equity lavished on it to date.
Almost. But we need money, too, especially because TW has grown so rapidly. Elizabeth and I are committed to taking TW through the spring of 2014, but whether the magazine can continue after that depends on the funds we raise.
Today is the last day of our annual fundraising campaign—a campaign in which one generous benefactor has agreed to match all donations to a maximum of $10,000 in matching funds. Click on the following links for more information about the matching funds program and TW’s holiday message:
Happy 2014, Athena Heads!
